postheadericon Palin film to get limited national release

A documentary film about Sarah Palin will receive a limited national release starting in the middle of next month, after its original screenings in key early primary states.

The film, titled "The Undefeated," can be seen in select theaters beginning on July 15. It will originally play in cities including Dallas, Denver, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Atlanta, Orange County, Phoenix, Houston, Indianapolis, and Kansas City, according to AMC Theaters, which was granted exclusive rights to carry the film.

"The Undefeated," which paints a flowery picture of Palin's rise and tenure as Alaska's governor, has fueled further speculation that the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee could be making moves to jump into the presidential race.

Palin's team initiated the process making the film -- her aides approached conservative filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon late last year about producing a series of short videos highlighting the governor's accomplishments. Instead, Bannon sought out to make a full-length film without editorial input from Palin.

The end result, a nearly two-hour documentary, painted her as a heroine for the Republican Party on par with Ronald Reagan.

Even if the film ends up having nothing to do with a possible Palin presidential campaign, the backers of the film believe that promoting the lightning rod political figure represents a a solid business opportunity.

“After screening 'The Undefeated,' we took the unusual step! of immediately exploring an expedited theatrical release, som! ething w e normally wouldn’t do during the busy summer months,” said Trevor Drinkwater, CEO, ARC Entertainment, the film's distributor.

"AMC is committed to providing distinct content to diverse audiences across the United States," said Nikkole Denson-Randolph, VP, Specialty & Alternative Content at AMC Theatres.  “We are proud to consistently offer a wide variety of product to our guests.”
