postheadericon IPAB Is Democrats' achilles heel

My party’s recent victory in the New York special election for the House of Representatives represents a welcome shift in voter opinion for Democrats like me. However, to a large extent, my party's recent performance in the polls stems not from our successes (they're few and far between this Congress) but rather from the Republican Party's radical plan to abolish Medicare for everyone under 55. Running against the ill-advised proposal proffered by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) won the upstate New York special election for Democrats and will continue to be a winning issue for America's progressives. But a consistent attitude towards health policy requires that my fellow Democrats take a close look at the ways we can improve Medicare by replacing a poorly conceived bureaucracy created under the new healthcare law.
