postheadericon GOP budget chief Ryan calls on Weiner to quit, citing âridiculous distractionâ

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) joined calls for embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) to resign Sunday.

“This getting beyond ridiculous,” said Ryan on the CBS program Face the Nation.

“We have got to get this behind us because it is a distraction, and so, yes, he should resign,” Ryan said. “We have got important work to do, and this is just a ridiculous distraction.”

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and a number of top Democrats have also called on Weiner to quit after sending sexually explicit photos and messages to several women online.
