The FBI has arrested two men for allegedly plotting to attack a military processing center in Seattle.

The two men â€" Abu Khalid Abdul-Latif, aka Joseph Anthony Davis, 33, of Seattle, and Walli Mujahidh, aka Frederick Domingue, Jr., 32, of Los Angeles â€" were taken into custody late Wednesday night after being monitored for weeks.

{mosads}Authorities were initially tipped off to the men’s alleged plan by a concerned citizen who notified the Seattle Police Department and helped the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force gather audio and video intelligence about an alleged attack on the Military Entrance Processing Station, which serves as a gateway for enlisting military personnel. The recordings allegedly revealed their intentions to storm the center with grenades and machine guns, according to a DOJ statement.

The two men are charged with conspiracy to murder U.S. officers, conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction,! and possession of firearms in furtherance of crimes of violence. Both men could face life sentences in prison if convicted of the charges.

The Justice Department (DOJ) called the alleged foiled attack “a sobering reminder.”

“Driven by a violent, extreme ideology, these two young Americans are charged with plotting to murder men and women who were enlisting in the armed forces to serve and protect our country,” said Todd Hinnen, acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security, in a statement.
