The Democratic National Committee (DNC) revised its record haul in September upward to over $17 million for the month.

A Democratic Party official said that the party brought in even more in donations for the month than it had previously expected to report in its filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

The party will report to the FEC on Wednesday afternoon that it had $13.2 million in cash on hand at the end of September, as well, setting up a final month of the campaign in which the DNC can spend heavily on candidates.

The DNC has brought in $11.1 million in the first 13 days of October to add to its coffers, bringing the committee's total amount raised for the cycle to just over $179 million.

The party will need the money. The DNC and the many state and national committee with which it has shared its money are spending big in the closing weeks of the campaign to stave off major Republican victories in House, Se! nate and gubernatorial races.
