postheadericon Warren raises $100,000 in weekend 'money bomb' fundraiser

Elizabeth Warren brought in pledges for more than $100,000 in a weekend "money bomb" fundraiser as the Democratic Massachusetts Senate candidate hopes to narrow the gap between her campaign and that of incumbent Republican Sen. Scott Brown.

Candidates have been using the fundraisers â€" which encourage grassroots supporters to donate money over a short period of time â€" to increasingly greater effect in recent years, as Internet-driven campaigns have become more prevalent. Ron Paul's presidential campaign has been particularly adept at the practice: in a similar South Carolina "money bomb" fundraiser this weekend, the Republican hauled in more than $1 million. A Tea Party money bomb last month  brought in more than $4 million.

Warren's ask was similarly themed, asking supporters to donate on the two-year anniversary of Brown's election to the Senate in a special election to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D).
