postheadericon Steward of healthcare, Wall Street reform legislation to leave White House

Phil Schiliro, the former director of legislative affairs and a current special adviser to President Obama, will be leaving the White House to look for opportunities in the private sector, the administration announced Monday.

Schiliro was widely influential in administration efforts to pass health care and Wall Street reform legislation, as well as assure confirmation of the president's Supreme Court nominees.

President Obama praised Schiliro's "steady leadership and tireless effort" in a statement Monday.
