Several GOP lawmakers joined political journalists in live-tweeting the results of the 2010 Census.

Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kan.), Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) tweeted out a variety of results from the Census Bureau's preliminary announcement on Tuesday of their work this past year. Those results included details of the total U.S. population, and a reapportionment of 435 congressional districts nationwide.

McHenry tweeted:

No coincidence that states gaining population fastest have lower tax rates and, consequently, stronger economies. http://bit.ly/g2EfyS

Jenkins was less partisan, though she noted her own state's results:

Kansas will continue to have 4 U.S. House seats via @USCensusBureau #2010Census

Chaffetz said:

Official now: Utah will get a fourth congressional seat in 2012. Details of that map done at state level to be announced in October 2011.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the incoming chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, promoted the lawmakers'! efforts.
