postheadericon Conference of GOP Hispanics beckons for 2012 contenders

Top Republicans, possibly including many of the GOP contenders for president in 2012, will appear in January at a conference of Hispanic conservatives in Florida.

All the potential Republican candidates for president in 2012 have been invited to a Jan. 13-14 summit presented by the Hispanic Leadership Network, a group affiliated with the American Action Network and co-chaired by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and former Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez (R).

A series of high-profile Republicans is already on the agenda for the conference, which will take place in Coral Gables, Fla.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) is schedu! led to appear at the conference, as is Fred Malek, a longtime Republican figure who has close ties to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R).

Other GOP figures are set to appear at the conference, which could serve as an outreach opportunity for Republicans to the Hispanic community, especially after the defeat of the DREAM Act this weekend in the Senate.

Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), is scheduled to appear, as is Florida Gov.-elect Rick Scott (R) and Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.).
