When House Republicans begin to fill out their leadership team with committee chairmen in the next few weeks, they will face another important symbolic test of whether their new majority really does, in fact, “get it.” The contested chairmanships to be decided by the Republicans’ Steering Committee, which is dominated by leadership, will be the subject of much breathless inside baseball coverage, if much indifference around the country.
