postheadericon Sen. Scott Brown to New Hampshire next week

Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown (R) will travel to New Hampshire, an early presidential primary state, next Friday.

Brown is scheduled to attend a fundraiser for GOP gubernatorial nominee John Stephen in Atkinson, New Hampshire, according to the campaign of state Senate candidate Jeb Bradley (R). Tickets to the event cost $100 per person.

National politicians' visits to early primary states such as Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, often spur speculation of a presidential bid. Potential candidates usually appear behalf of other candidates or state parties, in order to generate good will.

Brown has not given any indication himself that he wants to run for president in 2012 or 2016 but has not ruled out a candidacy.

The Massachusetts senator gained national attention for winning a January special election to fill the seat of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), a liberal icon.

Following his stunning victory in J! an. 2010, several Scott Brown-for-president domain names on the Internet were bought by Web users.
