postheadericon McCaskill praises citation in WaPo op-ed

On Twitter Tuesday, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) praised Washington Post contributor and former George W. Bush speechwriter Marc Thiessen on Tuesday for citing her in his Monday column.

"Nice that a very fiscally conservative [sic] thinks I asked a fair question," she tweeted from her iPad.

Thiessen had used a tweet from McCaskill top open his piece on earmarks and the GOP.

"Over the weekend, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), an earmark opponent, posted this message on Twitter: 'Which is worse, a party that doesn't ban all earmarks in an election year, or party who bans them only in an election year?' It's a fair question," he wrote.

He went on to say that the House GOP are "backing off the earmark ban" and to! note that the recently-unveiled Pledge to America did not reference it.

McCaskill, a long-time opponent of earmarks, had also tweeted, "By the way, I'm a Senator who has never sought earmarks and think they all need to be banned, period."
