Registered voters have a net-favorable view of Republicans' new governing agenda, a new poll suggested Friday.

A new Fox News poll found nearly half of voters were familiar with the GOP's new "Pledge to America," and that, of those who'd heard of it, 46 percent had a favorable opinion.

Forty-seven percent of registered voters said they were somewhat or very familiar with the new Republican agenda, while 43 percent were unfamiliar.

Thirty-five percent of all of those who were familiar with the pledge had an unfavorable opinion about it, though the agenda fared well with crucial independent voters. Independents who said they were familiar with the document had a more favorable opinion of it by a 15-point margin, 47-32 percent.

The Fox poll is the first major test! of the pledge's popularity. The document was unveiled last Thursday, to much fanfare, by House GOP leaders at a lumber store in Sterling, Va.

Democrats have since gone on the attack against the agenda, calling it a retread of old ideas and a giveaway to corporate interests. President Obama labeled the agenda as "irresponsible" and has highlighted it repeatedly on the campaign trail during the past week.

The poll, conducted Sept. 28-29, has an overall margin of error of 3 percent. It has a 5 percent margin of error for the group of voters who were familiar with the pledge.
