postheadericon Entertainment in the 2010 midterm elections

The 2010 election cycle certainly has been an entertaining one, especially when one focuses on the congressional races.  I never thought I would see a major party nominee for the United States Senate have to run a television ad proclaiming “I’m not a witch,” as Delaware Republican Christine O’Donnell felt compelled to do.  And while she perhaps tops the list of entertaining candidates, O’Donnell is hardly alone.  What other recent election cycle has featured the sitting Senate Majority Leader describing a member of his caucus as “the hottest member” (Harry Reid’s description of New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand), the private security team of a Senate nominee placing a reporter in handcuffs at a public event (Alaska Republican Joe Miller), or another major party Senate nominee running while under indictment on a felony charge related to pornography (South Carolina Democrat Alvin Greene), to name but a few.
