House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) now has more than 1,000 Twitter followers thanks to a blast tweet he sent on Friday afternoon.

"I'm 3 followers away from 1,000! Who wants to put me over the top?" he tweeted at 3:30 p.m. with a "Follow Friday" hashtag.

Clyburn debuted on Twitter on Sept. 13.

"My Rural Star bill which will create jobs and save families $ on their electric bills will be on the @housefloor Thursday," read his first tweet.

He now has 1,007 followers.
