postheadericon Biden nears 100-event tally on behalf of Democrats

Vice President Joe Biden attended his 98th campaign event this season, according to his own tally.

The vice president said at an event for Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) that he's nearing the century mark in the closing days of the midterm election season.

Biden has turned out to be one of the administration's top fundraisers and surrogates throughout 2010, campaigning in districts all over the country on behalf of Democrats running for House, Senate and governor. He's even traveled to help out in some races where President Obama hasn't ventured.

The vice president repeated his promise that Democrats would fare better-than-expected come Nov. 2, an outcome which may be due in part to his rigorous schedule.

"I know you're looking at me not believing me," Biden told donors at a fundraiser for O'Malley in suburban Washington, D.C. "We're going to do so much better than you expected."

Biden is almost certain to hit the! 100-event mark within the next week. His public schedule doesn't list any campaign events on Friday, but any trips he takes over the weekend or early next week would certainly put him over the top.
