It's no secret that the unemployment crisis has hit young Americans particularly hard. If you're a high school or college student right now, you spend your days in trepidation of the real world â€" one that will most likely greet you with a lack of job prospects and thousands, even tens of thousands, of dollars in student loan debt. Even worse, when you look to your government for solutions, you see inaction -- a sea of out-of-touch men and women who are holding the American people hostage in their bitter fight to maintain an elected office.

"Why can't my leaders just represent my needs and address the failing systems in our country?" you might think. Well, it's simple: America’s elected leadership represents big bankers and major corporate titans instead.

As MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan reminds us, the candidate who raises the most money in any election wins 94 percent of the time. So, it’s no surprise that all our politicians have to do is remain l! oyal to banks and corporation who write them checks, and voila: They have the job security that you and I dream about.
