postheadericon Colleagues anticipate Rep. Giffordsâs attendance at State of the Union

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) will be warmly greeted Tuesday at President Obama’s State of the Union address.

Giffords, attending the speech as one of her final acts as a member of Congress, will sit between Arizona Reps. Jeff Flake (R) and Raúl Grijalva (D).

Her fellow Democratic Reps. Chellie Pingree (Maine) and Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.) tweeted that they are looking forward to seeing her at the event.

Pingree tweeted: “Can't wait to see Gabby at SOTU. Sad she's stepping down, glad she's focusing on her remarkable recovery!”

Gillibrand tweeted: “Looking forward to seeing Gabby at the #SOTU ton! ight & to sitting w/Senator Graham.”

Giffords's close friend Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) will escort Giffords into the chamber, according to the Miami Herald.
