House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) praised the progress Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) has made in recovering from a shooting rampage in early 2011.

"I am grateful that @Rep_Giffords has made such progress in her recovery. Her strength is an inspiration to all of us," Cantor tweeted on Monday.

Giffords and other survivors of the shooting, which left 13 people wounded and six dead, commemorated its anniversary in Tucson, Ariz., on Sunday. At the event, Giffords led a crowd of 3,500 in saying the Pledge of Allegiance, according to Th! e Arizona Republic.
