Newt Gingrich blasted news that the unemployment rate fell below 9 percent as just "another devastating landmark in the Obama jobs crisis" in a statement Friday.

The economy added 120,000 new jobs and the unemployment fell from 9.0 to 8.6 percent, according to government data released Friday.

But Gingrich's presidential campaign argued that the rate "fell not because entrepreneurs were creating new jobs, Americans were getting back to work, and families were enjoying renewed prosperity, but for a completely opposite, tragic reason: So many Americans â€" over 300,000 alone this month â€" have simply given up looking for work."
