Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) doesn't mind admitting that his personal tweets are more "casual" than the professional messages tweeted out by his staff.

Shimkus, who has been tweeting more than two years, said he tweets to his official Twitter feed about half of the time, while the other 50 percent comes from his staff. Shimkus told The Hill that the level of professionalism is a good way for his nearly 6,500 followers at @repshimkus to tell whether he is the one tweeting or if it is his deputy press secretary, Jordan Haverly.

Shimkus is the one who posts Bible verses. He posts verses every day, which he said originate from his daily devotional. He said the verses he reads every morning provides him with different options to share on Twitter, and he posts based on the one that “struck my fancy."
