Herman Cain said that he has had conversations with "many" of the Republican candidates - including "initial conversations with two of the top ones" - as he decides who to endorse now that he has left the 2012 presidential campaign.

"As a businessman, I don't just shoot from the hip," Cain said Thursday during an interview on Fox News. 

Reports earlier this week had Cain primed to endorse fellow Georgia presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, who has attracted many of Cain's supporters and jumped to the top of the Republican presidential polls, but Cain said he was unwilling to endorse yet.

"I am in the process of making that evaluation," Cain said.
