Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said that he was "honored" that Republican front-runner Newt Gingrich said he would appoint him secretary of State if elected president but that it was "presumptuous" to say whether he would accept the post.

"Well, he hasn't talked to me yet, so we will wait and see what will happen. I'm honored anybody would say that. But I think it's presumptuous for people in that position to be accepting or not," Bolton said Thursday on Fox News.

Gingrich made the statement Wednesday while speaking at the Republican Jewish Coalition's presidential candidate forum.
