Videos of those disenchanted with the months-long debt-ceiling debate giving Congress a "slow clap" are gaining traction on YouTube and Twitter.

Chris Ashworth, a Baltimore-based computer programmer, sent out a tweet earlier this week asking followers to post videos of themselves slowly clapping in honor of the final debt-ceiling deal.

Here is the original tweet: "When the debt deal goes through can we start a meme where we all make videos of ourselves slowly & sarcastically applauding our politicians?"

The #SlowClapForCongress crowd isn't alone in its disregard for the legislative branch. Eighty-two percent of Americans disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll released Friday.

The videos have gained enough momentum to get celebrity nods.

The actress Elizabeth Banks tweeted this: "Slow Clap for C! ongress. Love this. slowclapforcongress.com"
