Ambassador to China Gary Locke made the following remarks at his swearing-in ceremony.

I’m deeply humbled and honored to become the next United States ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. I’d like to thank President Obama, Secretary Clinton, and the United States Senate for their support, their confidence and their trust in me. I also want to recognize and thank Chargé d’Affaires Deng from the People’s Republic of China, and many other friends and colleagues who are here today. With my family -â€" my wife Mona and our children Emily, Dylan and Madeline -- we’re excited to have this opportunity to serve the President and the people of the United States of America.
