postheadericon President Obama joins Foursquare

President Obama may soon become mayor of the White House.

Obama joined the location-based social networking website Foursquare on Monday evening, checking in from his first bus tour stop in Minnesota.

The White House announced Obama's Foursquare account on Twitter, where he was also welcomed by the Foursquare feed.

According to the White House blog, the account will ! provide the ability to follow White House officials across the globe and allow participants at official White House events--such as Obama's bus tour stops in Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois--to "check in."

Foursquare awards "mayor" status to users who "check in" at the same location the most times over 60 days. If Obama checks in at his residence, he is likely a shoo-in for the White House mayorship.

As of Tuesday morning, Obama had only checked into Lower Hannah’s Bend Park in Cannon Falls, Minn. Obama's next "check in" should come from Peosta, Iowa, where the White House has scheduled a Rural Economic Forum later in the day.
