A day after President Obama signed the debt-ceiling deal into law, pundits and lawmakers looked back on the weeks of contentious debate.

Obama signed the legislation a day after the House approved the measure and shortly after it passed the Senate, less than 24 hours ahead of a Treasury Department deadline. Sec. Geithner warned that the US would be unable to pay its bills on Aug. 3 if leaders did not raise the debt limit.

Gabrielle Giffords's chief-of-staff also spoke out this morning on the congresswoman's surprise return to Congress. Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich weighed-in with his views on the debt-ceiling legislation and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) explained what exactly is in a "sugar-coated Satan sandwich."
