postheadericon McCotter gets cooking in video complaining of debate exclusion

Rep. Thad McCotter (R-Mich.) really got cooking Friday in a video complaining about his exclusion from an Iowa debate next week for GOP presidential candidates.

McCotter appeared in a new video featuring shaky camerawork and low production values to lobby Fox News, the Washington Examiner and the Iowa Republican Party, who cosponsor the debate, to let him participate in the Aug. 11 forum.

McCotter, a Michigan congressman, appears in a kitchen in the video, and makes puns on food items he handles.

"When we purchased our position at the straw poll, we thought that one of the fruits of that purchase would be being allowed into the Fox straw poll debate," McCotter says, holding up a piece of melon.

"I think that with the major issues out there, voters want to hear new messages. If they are not allowed to hear new messages, I think it might leave them with a bit of a saccharin taste in their mouth," he says, shaking a packet of ar! tificial sweetener at the camera.
