postheadericon Gingrich takes campaign to Democratic stronghold Hawaii

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) will take his presidential campaign to Hawaii this weekend, where he'll raise money and meet with activists.

Gingrich's campaign released his schedule on Wednesday, which includes stops in the nation's most Democratic state on Saturday and Monday, with his campaign resuming on Thursday, Aug. 25 with a stop in New Hampshire.

The decision to hold two meetings in Hawaii follows a screening of Gingrich's documentary in Hollywood in California on Thursday.

The destination is a bit nontraditional, given the tenor of Hawaii politics and that Gingrich's fellow candidates for the Republican presidential candidates will be spending during the same period in more traditional primary states â€" not to me! ntion the fact that the incumbent President Obama was born there.

Gingrich faced a mass resignation in June by senior aides who questioned the former Speaker's decision to take time off from campaigning to take a vacation in Greece with his wife.
