The Secret Service has withdrawn an employee's access to the agency's Twitter account after the individual tweeted exasperation at having to watch the "blathering" on Fox News.

The Secret Service's Twitter feed on Wednesday contained an item that said: "Had to monitor Fox for a story. Can't. Deal. With. The. Blathering."

The tweet was removed, but not fast enough to prevent some of the account's followers from retweeting it and taking screenshots.

On Thursday, in a statement, Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan said the employee thought the item was posted to a personal Twitter account, rather than that of the Secret Service's.

"An employee with access to the Secret Service's Twitter account, who mistakenly believed they were on their personal account, posted an unapproved and inappropriate tweet," Donovan said. "The tweet did not reflect the views of the U.S. Secret Service and it was immediately removed. We apo! logize for this mistake, and the user no longer has access to our official account."
