Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) said Wednesday he isn't ruling out running in a different district â€" possibly out of state â€" if his is eliminated during redistricting.

"You may have heard some rumors over the past week, so I wanted to set the record straight with you: While I'm committed to representing the 10th District of Ohio, I will not rule out a run elsewhere should my district be eliminated or radically altered through redistricting," Kucinich said in a fundraising pitch on Wednesday.

Kucinich said he is readying for the 2012 campaign season regardless of the fate of his 10th district seat.

"So, no, we're not going to quietly fade away, and let the corporate interests and status quo have its way," Kucinich said. "Instead, we're gearing up for a long and difficult campaign in 2012 â€" wherever that may be. I know it's worth it, and I know we can prevail. But I'll need your help. Can you donate $25, $50, or $100 dollars today?"

He added that he has been encouraged to run elsewhere.

"I've been approached by supporters across the country â€" from Washington to Maine â€" to explore options outside Ohio should redistricting force me out of my current district," Kucinich said.

Kucinich recently hosted a fundraiser in Washington state, prompting speculation that his fallback plan, if he lost his Ohio seat, might be to run in Washington.
