Far from our country’s traditional hubs of political power lies the American West â€" a region that was the first to see widespread women’s suffrage, an area that served as the spawning ground for property rights, and a land that is the ideological home of Ronald Reagan. Now, Republicans in Western states have taken on a new voice â€" a voice that will play a pivotal role in determining the next Republican nominee for president.

Last November, the Republican National Committee announced Nevada would officially join Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina as one of the first nominating contests in the race for the White House.
