It’s no surprise that Congress is addicted to wasteful spending.  Taxpayers have known this for generations but record deficits and 69 Democratic election losses have forced politicians to move from denial to tacit acceptance.  

As the final minutes of the 111th Congress tick away, Congress will likely pass a tax compromise that is minimally palatable for both parties, but compromising on expiring ethanol subsidies should be out of the question.
