House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) used Twitter Saturday to applaud the Senate for bringing the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy to the brink of repeal.

“We're one step closer to the repeal of #DADT! Eagerly await closing the door on this fundamental unfairness,” Pelosi tweeted.

The measure to repeal the ban on gays and lesbians serving openly in the military broke through a GOP-led filibuster Saturday morning, clearing the way for final passage and President Obama’s signature.

It has already passed the House.
