On the verge of the Senate's vote on Wednesday, actor Neil Patrick Harris tweeted in support of the repeal of "Don't ask, don't tell," the controversial policy that prevents gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military. 

"Please, please Senators. Please vote to end Don't Ask, Don't Tell," he said.

Harris, who is openly gay, stars in "How I Met Your Mother."
