On Tuesday at midnight, 800,000 people who’ve been struggling to find jobs in this cruel economy lost their unemployment insurance. No more lifeline. Just like that, just in time for the holidays.

By the end of December, 2 million people will have lost their insurance â€" more than the whole population of 15 states. Or for a one state comparison, the population equivalent of the state of New Mexico will no longer have any support while looking for work.  And the number will keep growing unless Congress acts.  Never before has Congress failed to maintain benefits when unemployment is so high.
