Liberals are furious with President Obama for trying to make a deal with Republicans that would likely extend the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. 

Despite House passage of a bill extending the cuts only for the middle-class â€" Obama's preferred position â€" the White House signaled Thursday that a deal is in the offing, further angering liberals.

Senior administration officials indicated Thursday that the president is looking to make a deal even before the House took a vote on the middle-class only tax cuts.
