Florida Republican nears 2,000 followers

Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.) hit 1,987 followers on Tuesday, which prompted him to thank his Twitter community.

"Almost to 2,000 Twitter followers. Thanks to everyone!" he said.

Bilirakis, a member of the Tea Party caucus, tweets with a mix of talking points, announcements and personal reflections.
