postheadericon Cult status, fundraising effort for Sanders

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I) wasn't just the toast of Twitter during his Friday floor monologue against President Obama's tax deal with the GOP, but also inspired a website that sprung up in his honor.

Somewhere around the seventh hour of the 8.5 hour #filibernie, Sanders tweeted a link to the site IsBernieSandersStillTalking.com.

On Saturday morning, the white screen of the site read in big black letters, "No, but he's still awesome!"

Below that was a link to donate to Act Blue, a PAC that fundraises for liberal candidates and causes. "Senator Sanders has taken over the Senate to stand up for us. Show Bernie you stand up for him by throwing him a couple of bucks!" the page reads. As of Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Eastern time, $6,022 had been raised off the Filibernie.

To end his Friday speech, Sanders tweeted, "And with that, Madam President, I would yield the floor."

According to Sanders's office, the Senate TV server was temporarily shut down because of the overwhelming number of people trying to watch.
