Sen. John Cornyn on Tuesday took a jab at a Twitter user who questioned his right to speak.

The Texas Republican replied to @epaulnet, who directed a tweet at him asking, "Who gave you permission to speak?"

"The first amendment," Cornyn shot back. 

The user appeared to be upset with one of Cornyn's previous tweets. 

Cornyn expressed worry over the pending omnibus appropriations bill, tweeting, "Unacceptable: Neither Senators, nor the public have yet seen the proposed omnibus spending bill that could be voted on this week."

H! e also agreed with a federal judge who ruled part of the federal healthcare law unconstitutional, and highlighted a leaked embassy cable detailing troubles at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
