postheadericon Boehner returns to 'Where R the jobs' slogan

Following the release of a weak jobs report on Friday, incoming House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) took to Twitter with his stock slogan: "Where are the jobs?"

"Jobless rate now 9.8%," he tweeted. "Where R the jobs the 'stimulus' was supposed to provide? Need 2 cut spending, stop all tax hikes now."

The phrase was a routine part of Boehner's rhetoric leading up to the midterm elections, and he's continuing to use it as the GOP fights for its agenda in the lame-duck session.

"While Americans have been asking 'where are the jobs?' for more than two years," Boehner wrote in Tuesday's Washington Post, "our friends across the aisle have clung for too long to the liberal wish list, including a job-killing health-care law, a "cap-and-trade" national energy tax and an out-of-control spending spree."

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy added 39,000 jobs in November. More than four times that many had been created in October.
