Standing between erstwhile presidential candidates and success in the Iowa caucus are the deep ranks of corn farmers who call the Midwestern plains home. And so it is an odd artifact of our primary system that ensures that any senator who sees a future president in the mirror has pledged their undying support for corn-based ethanol.
