postheadericon Would-be GOP kingmakers tweet victories

Officials were surprisingly silent on Twitter Tuesday night with the exception of those with dogs in the fight.

GOP figures' political action committees, like those of Sen. Orrin Hatch (Utah), former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, were active in communicating their candidates' victories throughout the night.

Each relayed congratulations to a mix of state-based and national candidates â€" Hatch via retweet of @OrrinPAC and Huckabee through his own account. Palin didn't congratulate any candidates in particular; however adviser Rebecca Mansour kept followers abreast of SarahPAC developments throughout the night.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) also jumped in at around 1:30 a.m. to say that 60 of his "Young Guns" had won so far.

Overall, as of early Wednesday, 46 of Palin's 77 candidates had succeeded. The notable exceptions were some of her most high-profile picks: Christine O'Donnell in Delaware, Sharron Angle in Nevada, John Raese in West Virginia, and from the look of current returns, Joe Miller in Alaska.

HuckPAC and OrrinPAC didn't immediately respond to calls for their totals.
