Billionaire investor Donald Trump talked up on Thursday the possibility that he might run for president in 2012 as a Republican.

Trump, who's talked about running for president in previous election cycles, said that he was considering a 2012 bid as a Republican.

"I'm going to make a decision probably by June," Trump said of his presidential ambitions on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Trump said that he identifies himself as a Republican and would enter the GOP primary if he were to run.

"I am a Republican," Trump said of his party affiliation. "I would run as a Republican, yes."

He would enter a Republican field with no clear frontrunner so far and a variety of candidates eyeing a White House bid. One possible foe, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), shouldn't be taken lightly as an opponent, Trump said.

The billionaire said he would be willing to spend "a lot" on his campaign if he were to run.
Trump set up an exploratory committee in 1999 to pursue a run for president on the Reform Party ticket, but ultimately declined to formally declare his candidacy.
