Republicans really are awaiting Tuesday's election like it's Christmas.

Just take Texas Rep. John Culberson (R), who shared his excitement with his 13,500 followers on Twitter Monday night. 

"I feel like it's Christmas Eve!" he tweeted. "I can't sleep anticipating the great, good things that will happen when Pelosi's House is swept away." 

He had tweeted in a similar vein on Monday morning as well, rehearsing several metaphors that have become routine in describing a potential Republican coup.

"American common sense/core principles will sweep away Pelosi's liberal Congress in a tidal wave. I hope it's an asteroid extinction event!"

Culberson holds the Houston-based seat that once belonged to George H.W. Bush, and is expected to win a sixth term.
