God bless Lisa Murkowski. Only someone with that kind of support could persevere in an election where her base â€" the Republican Party â€" loved her, then left her for another, and now loves her again â€" apparently.

With more position changes in this election than a weathervane in a tornado, the Republican Party is back supporting Murkowski in Alaska’s Senate race. Of course they are â€" because she’s winning. See, they were with her until she lost the primary. When that happened and she decided to continue her campaign as a write-in candidate, they pounced on her. National Republicans warned her to get out; clear the way for Joe Miller. They threatened retribution â€" and followed through with it when she refused to bow to their demands â€" stripping her of her post in the Republican Conference leadership. They told her to accept her fate. Walk away from Alaska â€" after all, that is what Sarah “Qwitterer” Palin had done, right?
