postheadericon Mr. President: Itâs the Bush tax INCREASES

For months now, Democratic leaders in Congress and the White House have come across as pathetic in their attempts to institute some sanity to our tax policy as current tax cuts are about to expire. Repeatedly, Democrats from the president on down refer to these policies as the “Bush tax cuts.” What Democrats should be saying is that not about extending the Bush tax cuts; it’s about stopping the Bush tax increases for everyone but millionaires.

Now it’s true that President Bush was in the Oval Office when the Congress approved tax cuts in 2001. It is also true that those tax cuts were set by the law to expire in 10 years â€" long after President Bush left office. And it’s also true that for the next nine years, President Bush did nothing to extend or “make permanent” the tax cuts approved in 2001. Every year, he looked at the budget, deficit and debt numbers and decided to ignore the fiscal disaster he was overseeing. Instead, he spent wildly on t! wo wars and other spending, turning the $270 billion surplus he inherited from President Clinton into a $1 trillion+ deficit, which he handed over to President Obama.

Those are facts.
