While the dust is still settling from the electoral shake-up of the midterm elections, we know enough to recognize that voters sent a very big message to Washington: Start focusing on the economy or you will be fired.

As someone who served in leadership during the Republican Revolution of 1994 and then had the great honor to serve as Speaker from 1999 to 2006, I have a good perspective of the pitfalls that confront the probable Speaker, John Boehner. While leading the House of Representatives as its Speaker is a great job, it certainly is not an easy one. With more than 80 new members being sworn in Jan. 3, Boehner has his work cut out for him. Here are five tips about the job that might be useful for the incoming Speaker:
