The State of Florida just turned red, but it has nothing to do with college football in Tuscaloosa. Florida, once the ‘purplest’ of purple states, just turned a deep red and is likely to remain that way for a long time. Hopefully the leadership in Congress will recognize it and reward Florida voters by assigning appropriate leadership and policy roles for its delegation. The case for the freshmen class from Florida is overwhelming yet under told. There are so many freshmen from Florida that the House leadership may want to consider creating the position of “Florida Whip.” This outstanding class should be welcomed to Washington as conquering heroes who helped restore the majority to the GOP like no other state in the union.
