It is now clear this year’s midterms were two elections rather than one, even though they happened simultaneously.

In the House, we had a national referendum on the party in power, much like a European Parliamentary election. Those calling themselves the Tea Party were a major contributor to this development, and they rightly rejoiced in the results they helped achieve.
